Everybody wants to increase web traffic on their websites/blogs, here are few very simple steps that you yourself can do to increase traffic

1)      Each page on your website must have different page title; title must be something related to the content on the webpage.

2)      Each page must have different meta tags and meta description. You can set meta tags on the pages likes this

3)      Make sure that every image on the page has a alt tag. Search engines can not crawl images, alt tags help a lot in this case

4) The url’s should not have query strings. Avoid using query strings. For example         avoid url’s like www.abc.com/index.php?id=1

5) Hyperlink should not have any javascript, it should display URL when mouse is moved over them

6) Create a sitemap, it should have url for every dynamic page. You can create a sitemap using www.xml-sitemaps.com

7) Links should not be 3-4 levels deep down.

8) Create Google webmasters and Google analytics accounts and use them to monitor your websites’ traffic, top search queries, indexed pages

9) Social media marketing is now widely used for increasing web traffic on the websites .You can do the following:

a)creating profiles, groups, communities related to your website on social networking        websites like orkut, facebook, myspace, hi5 and other similar social networking sites.

b) Searching other forums, blogs related to content on your website and creating your      profile/account on them and actively posting new topics/comments on the discussion going   on there, you can use digg, yahoo answers etc

c) You can also use social bookmarking to increase traffic on your website.
